Anthony S. Fauci 4.75/5 (12)

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci is an American physician and immunologist who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984.

During that time, Dr. Fauci has advised six U.S. Presidents a number of domestic and global health issues, most notably HIV/AIDS and the current COVID-19 pandemic.

I'm nominating him for an American Award simply because he's stood up to President Trump (who has repeatedly made untrue and medically unsound statements in his daily press conferences) and made sure that the American people are getting the correct medical and scientific information necessary to get through the pandemic. Hit unflinching dedication to getting the truth out in the face of political pressure has surely saved countless lives.
