Every United States citizen or legal resident is presumptively eligible to be nominated for an American Award, regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnic background, religion, sexual orientation, or age.
All content included in a nomination must be honest and factually true. Exaggerations, misrepresentations, and falsehoods are grounds for disqualification. These standards are to be enforced by the moderators, administrators, or the Chairman, and any modifications or disqualifications made are not subject to review, appeal, or refund.
Nominations may not include content that is offensive, slanderous, sarcastic, cruel, mean, insulting, or negative.
To protect the privacy interests of nominees, all nominees are provided 48 hours to decline a nomination before it is published, and retain the right to disable or decline a nomination they’ve received at any point thereafter.
The American Awards reserves the right to declare any nominee as ineligible with good cause, and nominations of said nominees may be disqualified, cancelled and/or deleted at the discretion of either the Chairman or the Board of Advisors. No refunds will be issued should disqualification of any nominee be determined as necessary for any reason, and no right to review or appeal the decision of the Chairman or the Board of Advisors exists.
The American Awards site reserves the right to accept, reject, edit, modify, delete or nullify any nomination, as reasonably necessary. No refunds will be issued should disqualification of any nomination be determined as necessary for any reason, and no right to review or appeal the decision of the Chairman or the Board of Advisors exists.
Once a nomination has been approved by our moderators, the text of the nomination cannot be edited or altered by Nominator or Nominee. Moderators may make minor edits any nomination as necessary to conform with the standards of this site.
A nomination must be voted on a minimum of 10 times before it becomes eligible to be declared a "finalist" or a “winner”.
The general public votes on the nominations during the course of a year (an annual cycle), and the nominations with the highest average scores in each respective category at the end of each month shall be declared a finalist in their respective categories.
At the end of each year, the judges shall select one winner from the most recent set of finalists.
The annual cycle begins on 12:00am on January 1st every year, and concludes at 11:59pm every December 31st.
The Chairman of the American Awards has final say in the interpretation and application of the rules.
The American Awards is provided to the public as an "As is" service at the present time. No refunds will be issued for any reason.
