Vote for American Of The Year
For 17 years, Jon has been the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central, during which time he’s become one of the most trusted names in news. As cable news networks have slowly devolved into infotainment channels devoid of serious reporting, Jon has simultaneously taken on the roles of a public policy watchdog and advocate for the public good. The fact is, the role Jon has played has gone far beyond that of most entertainers — by honestly and fairly reporting the news, exposing corrupt politicians, and calling the news media out when they’ve skirted their responsibilities as members of the fourth estate, Jon’s earned a reputation as being one of the most intelligent, sensible, and respected voices in our national dialogue. I’m nominating Jon for “American of the Year” because I believe that as he nears the end of his tenure at The Daily Show, the time has come to honor him for the immensely important role he’s played in American politics for the past two decades. While there are countless videos that could be used to make the case for how extraordinary a role Jon's played over the course of the past two decades, I can't think of a better example than his appearance on CNN's CrossFire.
